May Builders Theme: I am a builder when I respect my body and mind
We feel this theme especially applies this month as the students are taking all of the end-of-year exams. We are discussing with the students the importance of eating healthy, getting exercise and plenty of sleep, and limiting screen time to the weekends. Each week, we will be giving the students new ideas on how to respect their bodies and minds and what exactly that means in their lives. We know that creating these healthy habits now will help the students live long, healthy lives.
No Academic Extended Day
Just a reminder about the dismissal times for the rest of the year:
- Dismissal 1 – 3:10 pm MTF, 2:10 pm WTh
- Dismissal 2 and 3 – 3:20 pm MTF, 2:20 pm WTh
End of Year Events
This year our end of year routine has some changes. In preparation for construction to begin inside on June 6, we have to have all the classrooms and offices empty that will be impacted. Also, most of the elementary classrooms will be switching rooms, which takes more time than usual. We don’t have a flag pole, so we will not be doing an end of year flag ceremony. During the last week of school, to qualify for casual dress, all books must be returned and fines must be paid.
- Monday June 2 – Full day of school
- Elementary – Casual Dress for those who qualify
- Secondary students will begin and end the day in uniform but may bring a casual clothes for the Trojan War
- 8:00 am – 10:30 am Kindergarten Field Day
- 9:00 am – 11:00 am – Yearbook distribution (for those without fines)

Parent Advisory and Land Trust Committee – Submit application by May 9th
Every school must have a Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) comprising of school administration and parents, with parents being the majority of the committee. The PAC meets 4 times per year and participates in reviewing the Annual School Plan, in deciding how the Land Trust monies will be spent, and other matters important to our students at American Preparatory Academy.
Our annual Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) elections are coming up and we are looking
for volunteers to serve for the 2025-2026 school year. There are no term limits; as long as
the volunteer has students enrolled in the school and is actively participating, they are
welcome to continue serving on the committee.
If you are interested, please contact the Land Trust staff at landtrust@apamail.org no later than Friday, May 9, 2025 at 4pm.

Choir Festival Results
Our Junior High choirs participated in the annual Charter School Choir Festival in April. Both choirs worked really hard to learn their music and they represented APA well. Our Chorale (7th graders) earned an Excellent rating from the adjudicators (2+, 2) and our Singers received a unanimous Superior rating (1-,1-). We are so proud of these students. Thank you to our choir students and parents for your support of our choral program.

Puede Tema Constructores: Soy constructor cuando respeto mi cuerpo y mi mente.
Creemos que este tema se aplica especialmente este mes ya que los estudiantes están tomando todos los exámenes de fin de año. Estamos discutiendo con los estudiantes la importancia de comer sano, hacer ejercicio y dormir lo suficiente, y limitar el tiempo frente a la pantalla a los fines de semana. Cada semana, les daremos a los estudiantes nuevas ideas sobre cómo respetar sus cuerpos y mentes y qué significa exactamente eso en sus vidas. Sabemos que crear estos hábitos saludables ahora ayudará a los estudiantes a vivir una vida larga y saludable.

Eventos de fin de año
Este año nuestra rutina de fin de año tiene algunos cambios. En preparación para que la construcción comience en el interior el 6 de junio, tenemos que tener vacías todas las aulas y oficinas que se verán afectadas. Además, la mayoría de las aulas de primaria cambiarán de salón, lo que lleva más tiempo de lo habitual. No tenemos un asta de bandera, por lo que no haremos una ceremonia de bandera de fin de año. Durante la última semana de clases, para calificar para vestimenta informal, se deben devolver todos los libros y se deben pagar las multas.

Comité Asesor de Padres y Fideicomiso de Tierras: envíe la solicitud antes del 9 de mayo
Cada escuela debe tener un Comité Asesor de Padres (PAC) compuesto por la administración escolar y los padres, siendo los padres la mayoría del comité. El PAC se reúne 4 veces al año y participa en la revisión del Plan Escolar Anual, en la decisión de cómo se gastará el dinero del Land Trust y en otros asuntos importantes para nuestros estudiantes de American Preparatory Academy.

Resultados del Festival de Coros
Nuestros coros de Junior High participaron en el Festival Anual de Coros de Escuelas Autónomas en abril. Ambos coros trabajaron muy duro para aprender su música y representaron bien a APA. Nuestro Coral (estudiantes de 7º grado) obtuvo una calificación Excelente de los jueces (2+, 2) y nuestros Cantantes recibieron una calificación Superior unánime (1-,1-). Estamos muy orgullosos de estos estudiantes. Gracias a nuestros estudiantes de coro y padres por su apoyo a nuestro programa coral.
