September Builders Theme: I am a builder when I build with enthusiasm.
Enthusiasm is one of our foundations at APA. The following is from our handbook: “Enthusiasm propels one on to greater effort. Enthusiasm makes work enjoyable and provides encouragement for others to put forth increased effort. It is the responsibility of every member of the American Prep community to bring enthusiasm to their work and to their associations at school.”

New Family Orientation – September 22, 5:00 pm
We invite all new families to come at 5 pm to learn the tips and tricks of successful families at APA.
Family Homecoming Dance – September 22, 6-7:30 pm
Join us at our annual Family Homecoming Dance! All current and former students and staff are invited to join us for an evening of line dancing, reminiscing, and light refreshments for sale. We hope you will come and spread the word to your friends and neighbors who have attended APA. Casual dress is appropriate.
College Fair- September 22- 23
We are celebrating College Week from September 23-27 and would love for you, parents, to share your college experiences with our students! We’re scheduling rotations on Wednesday (Elementary) and Thursday (Secondary). Please check out the sign-up to choose a time and join us for this exciting event!

8th/9th Grade College Visits – September 25
College visits are coming soon! 8th-grade and 9th-grade students will be visiting BYU, bringing a lunch or school lunch to eat outside, and then returning to the school. Please complete a permission form for your 8th/9th grade student – https://forms.gle/R4VDt8bLx7un6u5c7
College Wear Day- September 26
Students are invited to wear a t-shirt or sweatshirt from their favorite college on this day. Bottoms and shoes should be the standard uniform.
Vision Screenings – October 1
We will be conducting vision screenings for all students on Wednesday, October 1st. The students will be given a distance vision test. We will notify you of the results of the test if your student fails. You will also receive a referral letter with more instructions. Vision screening is not a substitute for an eye examination by an eye care specialist, and it is important that your child see an eye care specialist once a year to evaluate eye health. If you do not wish for your child to participate in the screening program, please email nurse@apamail.org 3 days prior to the scheduled exam date.
We need parent volunteers to assist with vision screenings. A short 15-minute training is provided, and this is a great way to get in your volunteer hours! Small children should not be brought to this volunteer opportunity. Please contact Karen Thelin (nurse@apamail.org) with any questions. Fall Festival- October 2
Our Fall Festival event will be raising funds to purchase new chairs and tables for our school. We need about $7000 to accomplish this. We would love for you to be involved in whatever way you can! Volunteer, help in advance, and attend, based on your schedule. Our first opportunity is helping with book baskets.

Tema de Constructores de Septiembre: Soy constructor cuando construyo con entusiasmo.
El entusiasmo es uno de los pilares de APA. Lo siguiente proviene de nuestro manual: «El entusiasmo nos impulsa a esforzarnos más. El entusiasmo hace que el trabajo sea agradable y anima a otros a esforzarse más. Es responsabilidad de cada miembro de la comunidad de American Prep aportar entusiasmo a su trabajo y a sus relaciones en la escuela».

Baile de bienvenida familiar – 22 de septiembre, de 6:00 p. m. a 7:30 p. m.
¡Únanse a nuestro Baile Familiar Anual de Bienvenida! Invitamos a todos los alumnos y exalumnos, así como al personal, a una noche de baile en línea, rememoración y venta de refrigerios. Esperamos que vengan y corran la voz entre sus amigos y vecinos que han asistido a APA. Se recomienda vestir de manera informal.

Visitas a universidades de 8.º y 9.º grado – 25 de septiembre

Día de la Ropa Universitaria – 26 de septiembre
Se invita a los estudiantes a usar una camiseta o sudadera de su universidad favorita este día. Los pantalones y zapatos deben ser el uniforme habitual.
Exámenes de la vista – 1 de octubre
Realizaremos evaluaciones de la vista a todos los estudiantes el miércoles 1 de octubre. Se les realizará una prueba de visión a distancia. Si su estudiante no la aprueba, le notificaremos los resultados. También recibirá una carta de referencia con más instrucciones. La evaluación de la vista no sustituye un examen ocular realizado por un oftalmólogo, y es importante que su hijo/a acuda a un oftalmólogo una vez al año para evaluar su salud ocular. Si no desea que su hijo/a participe en el programa de evaluación, envíe un correo electrónico a:enfermera@apamail.org3 días antes de la fecha programada del examen.
Necesitamos padres voluntarios para ayudar con las evaluaciones de la vista. Ofrecemos una breve capacitación de 15 minutos, ¡una excelente manera de aprovechar sus horas de voluntariado! Festival de Otoño – 2 de octubre
Nuestro Festival de Otoño recaudará fondos para comprar sillas y mesas nuevas para nuestra escuela. Necesitamos aproximadamente $7000 para lograrlo. ¡Nos encantaría que participaras en todo lo que puedas! Ofrécete como voluntario, ayuda con antelación y asiste según tu horario. Nuestra primera oportunidad es ayudar con las canastas de libros.
