FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL – TIPS FOR A SMOOTH START

  • The doors to the building will be unlocked at 7:30 am and school begins promptly at 8:00 am.
  •  The parking lot is reserved for kindergarten students and their families. All other families should go through the carpool line and drop students off on the curb.
  • Parents should stay in their cars and allow our staff to assist your students. This keeps the line moving, and makes the first day flow as smoothly as possible.
  • Please take pictures and give goodbye hugs BEFORE getting in the car.

WEBSITE RESOURCES

We are excited to welcome and get to know the following staff members:

Baylee Heap – 4-6th Grade Instructor

My name is Baylee Heap and I’m so excited to be a 4th grade instructor at Salem! I went to APA from K-8th grade and loved it! This last year, I heard Draper 2 was looking for more instructors so I worked there last April and May as a 4th grade instructor and as a groups teacher for 5th grade math and 6th grade reading. Before that, I was a tutor for kids K-12. I went to UVU but took a break so I could figure out what I  wanted my major to be. After working at APA, I decided to go back and get my teaching degree.  One interesting thing about me: I love adrenaline and adventure! My friend and I did a jump in the sand dunes on an ATV and crashed! We nose dove into the ground, flipped twice, and landed upside down. Luckily, the worst injury was a broken hand.  So excited to work here in Salem!!

Crystal Tejada – Kindergarten Instructor

My name is Crystal Tejada. I am excited to be a new instructor for Salem APA’s kindergarten. I previously worked as a behavioral researcher at Utah Valley University and an assistant preschool teacher. I recently graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in family science, and I’m planning on applying for a master’s degree in the fall. I was born and raised in Elk Ridge, Utah, and also lived in Las Vegas where I graduated from Cimarron Memorial High School. When I’m not at work, you can find me cheering on my son at some event (right now, baseball and football). My hobbies include snowboarding, playing on ATVs, and reading.
